'Moons of the Solar System' prints are hand made using a copper plate with a micro-fine, acid-pitted surface (similar to mezzotint) on which the light and dark tones are produced through burnishing and scraping. Hard burnishing creates the lightest areas, deep scaping provides the dark lines. The mid tones result from grading the pressure and un-worked areas remain black. Ink is applied over the plate's surface which before being meticulously wiped to reveal the image ready for printing through a press onto damp, cotton based, Somerset Paper. The other prints use a range of materials including Akura Printing Plates and Lino. All prints are delivered flat or rolled, ready to be framed.
